Do I believe in evolution?
I believe that evolution is true simply because it appears to be the most logical "explanation of life" offered to me that's supported with the biggest body of evidence. This evidence includes things like fossils, which show the similarities between organisms that were preserved from the past, and organisms alive today. These fossils often show a less adapted, inferior species compared to the evolved species; highlighting why the better evolved species is alive and why the fossilized species has deceased. This leads me to believe that the current organism has grown and gained attributes that better suit it's environment; proving that the process of evolution has potentially led us to then complex and intelligent species we call ourselves today.
Comparing homologous structures between species alive today suggests that certain organisms have similar bone structures, therefore must have common ancestors. Further forms of evidence include things like comparing embryos between different types of organisms. A growing embryo shows the most basic genes first, making it easier to pick out the similarities between certain species. This also concludes that certain organisms are interconnected and have evolved into different and/or more advanced species.
In conclusion, comparing fossils, homologous structures, and embryos of different species are only one part of all the evidence supporting the notion of evolution. This evidence is what leads me to believe that theory of evolution is the most justifiable theory we have when explaining how life came to how it is today.
